Requisites

To successfully pass the course and receive 5 credits you should:
  1. Write a paper on your subject totalling in 6 to 12 pages according to the styleguide. Paper grading will be done based on quality (as the course theme suggests!!), not on the quantity.
  2. Give a presentation (45-50 minutes + 10-15 minutes for discussion)
  3. Act as an opponent to at least one of the presentations. Your duty is to keep the conversation alive. The presenter will provide you with his/her paper in advance. You will also need to grade the presentation and the paper. The grading form may be obtained here in .pdf format or you can get it on location. This form is to be used only by the opponent.
  4. Succeed to attend to 70% of the sessions.
  5. Pass the examination. The first examination is held on May 12th (12.5), from 5 pm to 8 pm (17-20) in lecture hall S1. Examination is based on the whole Ferguson & Huston book and chapters 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11, 14 and 15 from the Stallings book. The examination will include problems similar to those presented in the Stallings book.

The presentation paper is to be delivered to Prof. Sharma no later than on the friday before the presentation at noon. The delivery of the paper to the opponent remains to be separately negotiated between the opponent and you. You are also required to deliver your paper in electronic format: preferably in Postscript or PDF. MSWord documents are also accepted. You may e-mail your document as an attachment to the course assistant.

Your final grade will be determined by Prof. Sharma based on
  1. The opponents grading of your paper and presentation, grading form available here in .pdf format.

Note!!: To even qualify for grading you need to particiapte in 70% of the lectures and presentations.
