With this system where all mobile phones could be located it would be possible to locate also all the doctors near this emergency place. This wouldn't be possible without the acceptance of the authority. It would also be possible to locate a mobile phone whose owner has made serious crimes. Commercially thinking these positioning services are interesting opportunity to create new services based on SMS (Short Message Service) or WAP. Keltaiset sivut (Finnish Yellow Pages) are making a service where you can get for example the nearest restaurant with SMS. This kind of services are easy to provide after the location data of the services is done. In the future it could also be possible to put these services on map if your mobile phone is able to show a map. Your mobile phone could also show the shortest route to the point you'd like to go. Nowadays it's also possible to get local weather report to your phone. One of the possibilities is to send local advertisement to mobile phones in that area. Today's special offers could be send to all that are interested and near enough. This needs also acceptance from mobile users. It would also be possible to make a service that tells the location of all people that has joined to the service. You could get the location of the nearest friend of the group you have specified and ask him for a coffee or so. With the accuracy of the GPS it would be possible to provide services that depend on time and location. If location of all the busses are known it would be possible to ask the nearest bus-stop and time to next bus in certain line. Lost and found offices are full of mobile phones. Also thieves are interested in them. If all of the mobile phones could be located would this situation be the same? I wouldn't like to be the one carrying a stolen mobile phone in that case!
