General course information

Telecommunications Forum is a Studia Generalia course hosted by the laboratories of the Helsinki University of Technology involved in Telecommunications Engineering. The course handles the hot topics in telecommunications including global and national (mega-) trends, hypes, product-, business- and technology strategies and covering issues from recent advances in communications research to the social, economic and legal impact of the application of the newest telecommunications technology. The guest speakers are leaders in their fields, scientists, innovators and business and technology officers in their companies.

The purpose of the series is to raise the awareness of our students of the innovation opportunities open to them in the fascinating world of telecommunications and related areas. At the same time this is an opportunity to encourage the discussion on the direction of technology between the industry and the academia. This Telecom Forum is fifth in a series. Last year's series was The event of the autumn term in HUT and reached an audience of some 200 listeners approximately half of whom were post-graduate and under- graduate students of HUT, Helsinki School of Economics and other Universities. The other half of the audience was comprised of representatives of the industry-sector, working in the technology direction- and research positions.

Prequisities

Because Telecommunications Forum is a Studia Generalia, no prior knowledge of telecommunications technology is required.

Language

The course is carried out entirely in English.
