Exercise Framework

This page gives the necessary tools and information for implementing the linear LMS based equalizer. As the exercise project work is to be solved by using the MATLAB some useful references will be given for MATLAB programming. The introduction guide to the MATLAB 4 goes trough some basic features of MATLAB. This might be useful in the case you are not familiar with MATLAB. MATLAB online FAQ documentation in turn includes many advanced hints. Also you might check some latest information about MATLAB development from the MathWorks Inc. home page.

Exercise Data

The exercise instructions contains the necessary information for the solving equalizer task. A sample MATLAB file you can use as prototype when implementing your own equalizer. In the case of problems you are encouraged to contact the assistants!

Exercise Results

The table below shows the results for the adaptive equaliser exercise (deadline 29.1.1999). Many excellent documents were returned. However, the better grades demanded that more emphasis has been put both on the profound and speculating answering for the selected questions in the demo document and on the good documentation style, that is, ease of reading the answers and comparative plots from your document. The pure MATLAB plots in your document with little or no explanations was not enough for getting the better grades. It was noticed that many groups encountered some problems in importing the MATLAB figures to the Word document and also in the plotting of the results. If you have something to ask or comment about the grading or just the work itself drop some email to the assistant.
