S-38.165 Switching Technology (3 cr)

Switching Technology is a new course and will be lectured for the first time on spring 2003.
This course replaces S-38.120 Telecommunication Switching Technology and S-38.164 Laajakaistainen välitystekniikka .

Contents:
Structure of switching fabrics, implementation possibilities. Multistage switching fabrics, complexity and capasity. ATM-switches, Gbit/s-routers,
optical switching elements, basics of WDM-technology: static networks, wavelenght routing, logically routed networks.

Prerequisites: S-72.423 Telecommunication Systems and S-38.188 Computer networks.
