TKK | Tietoverkkolaboratorio | Opetus
This course gives an overview of the field of Telecommunications in Finland. This year there will be two different ways to pass the course: you can either attend to the lectures or read a certain book. Either way, you also have to do a small homework and pass the examination.
If you don't understand Finnish there will be a problem. Because the topic of the course is 'How things are done in Finland', there are practically no (up-to-date) books about the subject written in English. The lecturer is looking for some material for non-Finish students, but has found nothing suitable so far. Students are wellcome to introduce their own suggestions for course material. Go to the book store yourself and see if you can find something acceptable. All proposals can be e-mailed directly to Seppo Uusitupa.
The Finnish-speaking students do a small research by asking 10 (ordinary, non-technical) people some questions about their knowledge of everyday telecommunications. The non-Finnish students will most propably have no homework at all, and in compensation their examination will be larger.
The next examination date is 19.5.1998, but because of the problems with the course material a later date must be arranged for the english- speaking students (in June?). The details of the examination requirements will be explained on this page as soon as there's something to tell.
