MobileMan

MobileMan is a three year (Oct. 2002 - Sep. 2005) research project in the area of Ad Hoc Networks for a Metropolitan Area. MobileMan is funded by the European Commission under the "Information Society Technologies" programme.

The project is a collaboration effort of several universities:

The project is led by Prof. Raimo Kantola. The project is focused on Routing and Service Discovery in Ad Hoc Networks.

    Research environment

The project is carried out by the HUT Networking Laboratory. We are building a test bed for studying new routing algorithms (including location information and other enhancements) that suits for medium to large Ad Hoc networks. The outcome of the project is to provide a vertical solution for Ad Hoc networks covering routing, addressing and service discovery mechanisms. We have built the preliminary testbed implementing an Ad Hoc framework over iPAQ (3850 and 3900).

    Employment opportunities

There are potential employment opportunities and thesis topics related to the project. If you have any interests, please contact Prof. Raimo Kantola or Jose Costa.
