1. History

a) The world is changing – in telecommunications, too. Make a short list of things that have happened in telecommunications (including telephony) during the past 20 years. Some six items will be enough – with arguments you can use to defence each item in your list.

b) Choose one item in your listing and write a short (200 to 300 words) essay on the subject. Give a smart name to your essay.

2. OSI model

Describe the ISO OSI model. [(What are ISO and OSI, where the model can be used, the benefits, how it meets the real life in Internet or so (etc. etc.)]

3. Wireless communications

a) The world is going wireless. Describe the problems that can be met in cordless telecommunications.

b) Describe the idea of cellular technology.

4. xDSL

xDSL is considered as today’s solution to data transmission in many applications. Suppose you are the responsible copywriter in an advertising company working for a mid sized telephone company. You have to plan a full-page ad in a local daily newspaper. Which kind of things could you choose to promote sales? Any proposals for pictures or photographs?
