General comments about the grading
Problem 1:
- correct acronym gives 0.5p and a short explanation 0.5p
- some minor errors were tolerated in the acronyms (for example, one of the letters
of the acronym could be false without penalty), as long as the explanation was correct
Problem 2:
- definition of intra domain = routing inside AS(1p)
- most important algorithms = link state and distance vector (1p)
- details (4p)
Problem 3:
- Ethernet addresss = 48 bits, non-hierarchical (0.5p)
- IP addr. = 32 bits, unique, hierarchical (network + host) (1p)
- TCP/UDP = 16 bit port numbers (0.5p)
- SMTP addr. = email address (username@domain_name) (0.5p)
- HTTP addr. = domain_name + directory_path (at the web server) (0.5p)
Problem 4:
- explanation of bi-directional tunneling (3p)
- stateless autoconfiguration or DHCP for address discovery and registration at the Home Agent (1p)
Problem 5:
- cong cntr concerns network's capabilities, and flow cntr the receiver's (1)
- slow start explanation (1p), AIMD explanation (1p)
- TCP Vegas explicitly controls the transmission rate (see TCP Vegas cong cntrl equations),
while TCP Reno does not (2p)
Problem 6:
- SNMP explanation (1.5), MIB explanation including ASN.1 (1.5)
